London has 5 airports; City Airport, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and Heathrow. Being one of the most visited cities in the world, London airport hotels are always in demand. All have great connections to the city centre and are perfect for catching that early flight or relaxing after a long haul journey. Here we take a closer look at the major London airports.
Heathrow Airport is one of the biggest and busiest airports in the world. It is situated 27km west of central London. It has 4 terminals that are served by over 90 airlines which fly to 170 destinations all over the globe.
Heathrow Airport has excellent transport links with central London. The Heathrow Express is probably the best way of getting to and from the city centre and it can get you directly to Paddington Station in 15 minutes. You can also catch the London Underground Piccadilly Line which can get you to central London in 40-50 minutes.

London Gatwick Airport is the 2nd largest airport in London and is situated about 46km south of central London. It is mainly associated with charter flights and point-to-point flights. Stansted Airport is located in Essex about 48km north east of central London. It is mainly used by low cost European carriers. If you are flying with Ryanair or Easyjet, chances are you'll be touching down here. Getting to the city centre isn't a problem, just head below the terminal building to the railway station where you can hop on the Stansted Express it will get you to Liverpool Street Station in under an hour.
